2020 Audi R8 V-10 Performance Spyder Quattro
Based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car that was designed by Frank Lamberty and Julian Hoenig, the Audi R8 was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show in September of 2006. The first gen examples were built between 2006 and 2015, while the second gen ran between 2016 and 2024. The R8 was Audi's first supercar and became an icon of success, blending performance and exotic looks in one package. The R8's status would reach a whole new level when billionaire industrialist, genius inventor, and of course superhero, Tony Stark, best known as Iron Man, made the R8 his personal vehicle in a series of Iron Man movies. While many of the younger enthusiasts and collectors grew up idolizing Tony Stark and his antics, the R8 solidified itself as a favorite and worthy future collectible among enthusiasts of all generations.
Offered toward the end of the R8's production run, this clean CARFAX®, 2020 Spyder Quattro performance package equipped example was sold new with a base price of $208,100, which is $25,000 over the standard, non-performance Spyder spec. Furthering its price tag, it was ordered with over a reported $22,000 in options, which includes its stealthy Audi exclusive Daytona Gray Pearl paint, additional exterior carbon fiber trim, 18-way power adjustable sports seats, dynamic steering, and much more.
Acquired by the Passport Collection in the early part of 2023 from the original owner, the odometer showed fewer than 7,700 miles and now shows 8,493 today at the time of cataloging. In addition to the factory options, the original owner reportedly invested nearly $30,000 in performance upgrades. These upgrades include a VF Engineering ECU tune, Fabspeed air intake, a RYFT high performance exhaust system, and a Radenso integrated radar detector system with jamming capability.
With the performance package, custom upgrades, and the impressive Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the 5.2-litre screaming V-10 engine is estimated to produce well over 600 horsepower. While the horsepower will keep you going, the 413 lbs-ft of torque will get you going, and allow this menacing Spyder to devour a 0-60 time in just 3.2 seconds, all while on its way to achieving a top speed past the mythical 200 mile-per-hour mark. With such impressive performance, an equally impressive braking system is expected, resulting in 15- and 14-inch carbon ceramic disc brakes with six- and four-piston calipers in all four corners.
To complement the exotic styling and Audi exclusive paint, optional carbon fiber components can be found on the front splitter, rocker inlays, and exhaust surround. As a performance model, various other items feature exclusive carbon fiber trim. Topping off its looks is a set of milled anthracite finish OEM wheels and optional blacked-out badging. Open up the automatic folding roof, and you are greeted by a stunning, luxury filled cabin that features carbon shell racing-style seats inlaid with diamond-stitched Nappa leather. Other features include 18-way adjustable seats, high-gloss carbon fiber door sills, and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system to name a few.
Driving off into the proverbial sunset, the final naturally aspirated V-10 Audi R8 just recently rolled off the assembly line at the start of 2024, with no replacement in sight. This mere fact has resulted in the remaining V-10 R8s to become highly sought-after and collectable, especially examples that are highly optioned, such as this Audi exclusive Daytona Gray Pearl V-10 Performance Spyder Quattro. Two owners, and 8,493 miles from new, this example will surely do the R8s lasting legacy justice.
