1931 Cadillac 355A All-Weather Phaeton

The 1931 Cadillac V-8 All-Weather Phaeton by Fleetwood was a defining example of early 20th-century American luxury and engineering excellence. As part of Cadillac's prestigious lineup during the height of the Classic Era, this model showcased the brand's commitment to innovation, style, and performance with a sporty 353-cubic-inch V-8 engine. Fleetwood, Cadillac's in-house coach builder, crafted a variety of elegant body styles for the '31 model, ranging from formal sedans and limousines to sporty roadsters and coupes. These bodies featured intricate detailing, sweeping fenders, and Cadillac's signature chrome-accented radiator grille, exemplifying the Art Deco design influences of the time. Buyers could choose from an array of custom interior options, including plush wool or fine leather upholstery, wood trim, and state-of-the-art instrumentation. While the 1931 Cadillac might have been introduced during the Great Depression, it still remained a popular choice among the wealthy elite. Its combination of refinement, performance, and prestige solidified Cadillac's reputation as America's premier luxury automaker.
Presented with an award-winning body-off-the-frame restoration that was completed in the early 2000s, this rare 1931 Cadillac is blessed with All-Weather Phaeton Coachwork by Fleetwood. Finished in a deep navy blue with an orangish pinstripe that runs the belt line, the body presents quite well considering the age of the restoration. Sitting on a set of chrome wire wheels wrapped in black wall Goodrich Silvertown tires, other Cadillac accessories include dual Trippe Safety lights, a radiator stone guard, matching dual side-mounted spare wheels topped with sideview mirrors, a small rear trunk, and a folding rear trunk rack.
Within the cabin, one will be pleasantly surprised with the lush navy-blue leather that can be found on the front and rear bench seats with subtle wood trim veneering throughout. Adorned with an eye-catching Cadillac signature instrument dash, other features include the desirable disappearing divider window, under the dash Hadees heater, rear middle folding armrest, ash trays in all four doors, and dual electric windshield wipers. With plenty of space for four occupants and a rear folding luggage rack for your items, it is a worthy choice for any collector car tour, which this example has done. Most recently, this Cadillac partook in the annual Enthusiast Spring Driving Tour in 2023, where it traveled over 200 miles in total from Worldwide Auctioneers' Auburn headquarters to South Bend, Indiana and back.
