Introduced at the October 1965 London Motor Show, the new Aston Martin DB6 was cloaked in hand-formed aluminum bodywork. Retaining the highly attractive covered headlamps of the DB4GT/DB5, the DB6 was the product of advanced aerodynamic principles, with its revised tail design influenced by the pioneering work of Dr. Wunibald Kamm. Already proven on 'Project' racing cars at Le Mans, the new tail treatment of the DB6 was claimed to give a 30 percent reduction in lift at high speeds. Perhaps most importantly, the DB6 also featured heightened passenger comfort with greater headroom and useful rear seating, rendering the DB6 a true Grand Tourer capable of seating four.
Comprehensive standard features, including rich Connolly leather upholstery, belied the impressive performance of the DB6 and its lusty 4.0-litre DOHC inline six-cylinder power plant.
