The Rolls-Royce Phantom I was introduced in 1925 as the successor to the Silver Ghost. It was powered by a 7.7-litre (7,668cc) straight-six engine, which was smooth, powerful, and well-engineered. While the Phantom I retained the Ghost's chassis design, it featured numerous mechanical improvements, including an improved pushrod-operated overhead valve system. Produced between two different locations, Derby, England and Springfield, Massachusetts, USA, the Springfield-built PIs were often fitted with custom bodies by top-tier American coachbuilders, such as Brewster & Co.

The York Roadster was one of the sportier and more stylish body styles crafted for the Phantom I by Brewster. Unlike the more formal limousine or town car bodies, the York Roadster was a two-seat open-top roadster with an emphasis on elegance and performance. A low-slung and gracefully proportioned body with refined detailing and distinctive sculpted lines defined the York Roadster and made it one of the most desirable body styles to ever grace the Phantom I platform.

This beautifully restored Rolls-Royce Phantom I wears exquisite coachwork in the style of the famous York Roadster. Of all the bodies to be offered by Rolls-Royce of America on the PI, the York is arguably the most coveted. Few examples were originally built, and even fewer survive today, residing in some of the finest collections around the globe.

Noted marque specialists, Enfield Restorations in Enfield, Connecticut, undertook the restoration and coach building. Shop owner John Abrahamson executed the project for his own personal use and to display the shop's extensive capabilities. Mr. Abrahamson attained an original York, something few people or shops are able to do, and did extensive measurements and patterning to ensure this car would be as close to the original in each and every way possible. To ensure it was as close as possible, the project required extensive woodwork, panel beating and many special castings unique to these cars. With wonderful panel fit and quality that is indistinguishable from the original, the resulting appearance is stunning.

The rest of the car was restored to the same high standard as the body. Finished in an attractive period two-tone green color scheme and rolling on bright finish wire wheels with a tan cloth top and chrome throughout, this is an elegant Rolls-Royce that commands respect. The cabin is trimmed in a smooth brown leather and features a wood veneer dash that houses the gauges. More than just a piece of eye candy, all the mechanicals, including the suspension, brakes, and 7.7-litre six-cylinder engine were tended to, resulting in excellent touring performance for this Rolls-Royce. As a veteran when it comes to Rolls-Royce Owners Club touring events, this example has many more outings in its future.

Acquired by the Passport Collection in 2016, this exquisite Rolls-Royce Phantom I Roadster adorned with stunning coachwork stands at the ready for exceptional motoring events around the globe.
