1936 Cadillac Series 80 V-12 Covertible Coupe
Following General Motors' stylistic revolution that began in 1927 with the hiring of Harley Earl and his establishment of General Motors' "Art and Colour" Department, GM and Cadillac soon redefined automotive design with a break from classic formality to a new era driven by sleek, aircraft-inspired streamlined themes. Cadillac engineering also reached a high-water mark with the company's V-8 models joined by the V-16 for 1930 and the V-12 for 1931. A succession of careful mechanical improvements applied to the entire Cadillac range, though the mid-1930s provided uncanny refinement and an exceptional driving experience to match. For 1935 and 1936, Cadillac's beautifully packaged and finished overhead-valve V-12 engine displaced 368 cubic inches and developed 150 horsepower with outstanding torque, while innovative hydraulic silencers on the rocker bushings contributed to the exceptionally quiet performance of the silky-smooth Cadillac V-12.
Trimmed in an eye-catching red, the cabin draws in attention and is both contrasting yet complementing of the yellow exterior paint. A vehicle of high society in its day, the cabin is of course equipped with few options that make routine driving more enjoyable, such as a dash mounted clock and an under the dash stereo and speaker. With room for bags behind the bench seat, a rumble seat stays ready to be used and enjoyed by friends, family, and lucky guests that get to tag along on road trips and weekend drives.
Known for their renowned engineering, this Cadillac Convertible Coupe by Fleetwood is powered by its Series 80 V-12 engine that produces 150 horsepower and is paired with a three-speed manual transmission, front and rear semi-elliptic leaf springs, as well as hydraulic drum brakes in all four corners.
This wonderful, streamlined Cadillac is a great choice for your next touring and driving adventure, as it is eligible for a plethora of driving events such as CCCA, AACA, the annual Enthusiast Tour, or the Forza Mille as only 12-cylinder automobiles are granted access, such as this example.
