Returning from Europe in 1938, Edsel Ford was determined to incorporate some of the design cues he saw there into Lincoln's next long, low, and rakish luxury car. Working with Ford designer E.T. "Bob" Gregorie, the sleek outline of the car's two-door, four seat body was soon sketched out. Based on the 1935 Lincoln-Zephyr that had revitalized Lincoln's fortunes, the new Continental design featured a lowered hood line, and skirted rear fenders with a bustle-style trunk. Edsel's approval was enthusiastic and swift, as his team began to complete a car for his winter vacation in Florida. The prototype was completed in six months and became the hit of the winter season among Edsel's friends. Originally called the Lincoln-Zephyr Continental, it entered production in 1940, with 404 produced. This spurred continued production in 1941, with 1,250 built - 850 coupes and 400 cabriolets. Film icons Jack Benny, Clark Gable, and Mickey Rooney all purchased these sleek Lincolns, along with the biggest star in Hollywood, Rita Hayworth, whose 1941 Continental Coupe was sold by Worldwide Auctioneers at their Auburn headquarters in 2022.

This gorgeous maroon 1941 Lincoln Continental V-12 comes out of long-term ownership, where it was completely restored just a few years ago. The restoration was made much easier by the solid condition of the car to begin with, and we suggest you look closely at the quality of the workmanship from top to bottom. The previous caretaker was a long-term hobbyist who spent quite some time bringing the Continental to this level of authenticity, and he used the car on special occasions and leisurely drives to local car shows. This beautiful V-12 Coupe is a true testament to American automotive excellence. It stands out with a vibrant maroon exterior finish, a color with bold and timeless appeal. The long body panels make it easy to see what a straight body this is, and every piece of chrome and trim looks like new. From the frame to the roofline and from bumper to bumper, the body is in fantastic and highly original condition, including the Continental spare.

Under the hood, you will find the powerful 292-cubic-inch V-12 engine, a marvel of engineering that delivers impressive 110-horsepower performance. This engine is paired with a three-speed manual transmission, offering a driving experience that is both engaging and rewarding. The V-12 fires right up, runs smoothly, and is a pleasure to slide through the gears. It remains beautifully restored and well-detailed, and will be a highlight at any car show or meet you choose to attend. Step inside and you'll be greeted by a bright red leather interior, a color choice that complements the exterior and adds a touch of elegance to the overall design. The interior is spacious and comfortable and the dash is a work of art, with clean gauges and an Art Deco feel.

Very rare today as 1 of an estimated 200 survivors of the 850 Coupes produced, this lovely car remains a great example of a 20th century automotive design benchmark. Avidly sought by society's elite when new, the Continental firmly re-established Lincoln's place in the market and, today, remains on the top of the list for vintage Lincolns. The 1941 Lincoln Continental V-12 Coupe is more than just a car; it is a piece of automotive history and a vehicle that offers a unique blend of style, performance, and luxury. Whether you are a classic car enthusiast or someone who simply appreciates the finer things in life, this Lincoln Continental is sure to impress.
