Throughout its long and storied history, GM's Chevrolet Division has consistently produced some of the most popular automobile designs ever conceived. Of all, though, Chevy's wildly successful and handsomely designed 1955-1957 models rank at the top of the list today. While certain Chevrolet enthusiasts may prefer the subtlety of the 1955 and 1956 models, most favor the flashier 1957 Chevy line and the top-level 1957 Bel Air models as the ultimate expression of the concept. Deft stylistic updates for 1957 maintained a remarkably fresh and light overall appearance, even though its tailfins grew considerably larger than those of 1956. Similarly, the distinctive "face" and larger bumper design up front avoided the heavy-handed effect of certain other manufacturers' designs of the era. An ever-growing list of powertrain choices and combinations, plus new competition-oriented high-performance parts added the substance to back up the sizzle, with Chevy's immensely successful small block V-8 engine now enlarged to 283 cubic inches of displacement.

An attractive example of one of the most iconic automobiles to ever hit the pavement, is this fully restored 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. Finished in the two-tone colors of Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige, it features just the right amount of chrome, and is a prime example of the golden era of '50s American motoring. The spacious cabin features a black and beige interior, orange rubber floor mats, an AM radio, and just enough room to fit five of your closest friends. Under the hood is where the speed magic lies, as this example is fitted with a well-sorted 283-cubic-inch V-8 engine that is topped with a dual four-barrel carburetor and "bat wing" intake. Backing the engine is a two-speed automatic transmission, allowing just about anyone to enjoy this Bel Air behind the wheel. One of the most iconic cars ever created, with plenty of get-up-and-go power, this nicely restored example will be a pleasant addition to one's garage, cruise-in, or rotation of summertime cruisers.
