While the Pontiac division of General Motors is generally credited with creating the muscle car era with the 1964 Pontiac GTO, the Chevy Chevelle SS 396 holds a special place in the hearts of auto enthusiasts as one of the hottest cars of the era. By 1967, Chevrolet Chevelle was the second of a two-year span of the notable "coke-bottle styling" before the car grew in subsequent years. It received a slight facelift compared to the '66 Chevelle, including less angular headlight surrounds and a larger bumper cutout beneath the grille. The combination of this classic design and great performance created a legendary automobile, and sales were robust.

This fine example has been carefully and accurately upgraded to the highest standards. It began life at the Baltimore assembly plant between November 27 and November 30, 1967, as a Marina Blue Malibu convertible with a black imitation leather interior and a smaller V-8. In the early 2000s, the car received a painstaking high-quality restoration - upgrading both the drivetrain and the cosmetics. You can't miss the combination of striking yellow paint with a white convertible top and a white bucket seat interior. The chrome, trim, and panel fit are excellent, and while the car is not stock, all of the classic elements are in place, with key upgrades throughout. Mix in a fresh set of Cragar Super Sport wheels, and the package is as classic SS as they come.

Pop the hood, and the big 396 is clean and well-presented, pushing 350 horsepower through the console shifted Powerglide automatic transmission. It sounds fantastic and will light those tires easily. It is just as clean underneath, inside, and out back, making this SS 396 an amazing opportunity. It has been in the Passport Collection for over two decades, in a humidity-controlled environment, so you would be hard pressed to find one as solid. It has only been driven for maintenance and occasional parades ever since, making this an outstanding opportunity for a like-minded new owner.
