1970 Ford Bronco Half Cab
The late '60s/early '70s was a wild time for America, with public opinion definitely turning against the Vietnam War. Music became the way many of us were able to protest the war, and the world was booming with new ideas. By the 1960s, Ford saw the marketing of the Bronco working very well and developed a number of fun and unique models of the truck to compete with the American Motors Jeep CJs and even the International Scout. Long renowned for removable tops and four-wheel drive, both of those competing models were successful vehicles and Ford wanted their own a slice of that pie. The unique Broncos, including this rare Half Cab, were a bit larger and more powerful than a Jeep or a Scout, and that's part of the reason the Bronco survived and is still an American off-road legend today.
The Half Cab was the workhorse of the Bronco lineup. Popular with farmers, contractors, and tradesmen, the steel cab was always dry and easy to lock up and make secure. The short bed was a little smaller than the Datsun and Nissan pickups of the day, but the truck itself was larger, stronger, and a proven off-road performer. You could also buy an open-air roadster, without a top or doors, which was fun but not very practical, or a removable hardtop model and add a full-sized soft top as an option. Only the half cab delivers the practicality of a pickup and the off-road capabilities that made them popular choices for the Forest Service and many National Parks. Bronco enthusiasts have known for years that the half cab models are really rare, highly capable off-road toys, and will always be in demand with Bronco enthusiasts.
You'll love the look of this unique Bronco, with nice tight panel gaps and bright red paint with white steel hardtop and grille. Everything looks as expected with straight panels and a chrome front bumper. The bed is clean and ready to get to work, and this is certainly a unique truck anyone would be proud to own, but especially, as a rare and valued part of a Bronco collection.
The engine in this Bronco was replaced and upgraded to a 351-cubic-inch small-block V-8 engine, with an Edelbrock performance carb and the proper factory exhaust manifolds. It features a new distributor, performance spark plugs, and was recently detailed. You'll love both the sound and the look of this clean, classic power plant. Mated to a manual "three on the tree" transmission, it is smooth and easy to drive. With the traditional locking hubs and floor-mounted transfer case, this is a vehicle that will easily transform into an off-road brute whenever needed. The interior is classic red and white throughout, with clean door panels, classic padded dash and black bucket seats. It is an authentic look and feel, highly functional, roomy, and ready to enjoy.
If you're a Bronco enthusiast, you know how rare these half cabs are, with just 1800 built in 1970. Here is an excellent opportunity to buy a Bronco that will literally go anywhere, looks really great, and will certainly attract huge attention wherever it is driven.
