Born amidst a wave of innovation and a quest for efficiency, the Fiero sought to redefine the American sports car market. Introduced in 1984, the Fiero was first conceived as a fuel-efficient automobile, leveraging mid-engine architecture for optimal balance and handling. This was also the first time a mass-production American mid-engine automobile was produced and sold. By 1986, the Fiero GT took Pontiac's mid-engine experiment to the next level. This final iteration, adorned with the "GT" moniker, was a testament to the brand's commitment to pushing boundaries. Under the hood, a 2.8-liter V-6 engine with 135 horsepower transformed the Fiero into a true performance machine, helping challenge the perception of American sports cars in the 1980s.

In total, 368,263 Pontiac Fieros were built between 1984 and 1988; of those, the GT equates to just 17 percent of all Fiero production. A part of that small statistic is this 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT that is equipped with a desirable four-speed manual transaxle. Kept in a climate-controlled garage, this clean and well-maintained Fiero's black finish presents very well, as does the gray cloth interior in the cabin. Showing 37,146 miles on the odometer, this example is accompanied by a clean and detailed CARFAX® report. Adding to the drivability and everyday practicality of this Fiero GT, it is equipped with an array of items which include power brakes, power windows, power locks, tilt steering wheel, Kenwood stereo, factory "snowflake" wheels, and a rear spoiler.

Open the rear bonnet, and one will find a well-taken care of 2.8-liter V-6 engine that produces 135 horsepower. Weighing in at approximately 2,700 pounds, this nimble little sports car is a thrill to drive and handles very well when taking corners and curves at a higher rate of speed.

Today, the Pontiac Fiero GT has garnered a cult status among collectors and enthusiasts, a testament to its unique place in American automotive history. A mid-engine design that inspired a new generation of automobiles that can be seen in all sectors today, this black, four-speed standard shift '86 Fiero GT is bound to keep its lasting flair and make a great summer and weekend driver.
