As timeless as the company itself, the Mercedes-Benz 560SL Roadster looks good no matter what generation of automobile you display it with. The R107 series platform, which is Mercedes' second-longest series after the G-Class, made its debut with the 350SL. Tasked with succeeding the W113 Pagoda roadster, the R107 represented a significant departure from its forerunner. Its design embraced bold, angular lines, which was quite the opposite of the curvaceous aesthetics of the Pagoda. The R107 series would see four different iterations in its lifetime, the 350SL, 380SL, 450SL, and the last and most powerful of them all, the 560SL, which was built from 1986 to 1989. The 560SL's defining characteristics were its sleek lines, chrome accents scattered throughout, and prominent Mercedes-Benz grille. It boasted high-quality materials, fine wood trim, comfortable leather seats, and most importantly, a 5.6-litre V-8 engine that delivered brisk acceleration and a smooth, refined ride. These innovations and features combined to make the 560SL a leader in the luxury car segment during its era.

This beautiful black 560SL Roadster has been a West Coast car its entire life and has had a limited roster of ownership since new. The car was sold new in the Seattle area and would stay in the vicinity until arriving in Auburn, Indiana, to be sold at the Enthusiast Auction. Ownership includes single family lineage for 34 years. During that time, it was registered to a lady in Bellevue, Washington, and used carefully as her daily driver. Upon her passing, it was purchased from the estate and enjoyed by her daughter until approximately 12 years ago when her job took her to Hong Kong. The car would be stored with her sister who would start and move the car monthly, occasionally taking it out for drive to "get the dust off" as she said. The current owner acquired the car in 2022 for his wife and it has been driven sparingly since. It was decided that after not much use, and an already crowded five-car garage, that the car would be better enjoyed by a more active owner and is offered here for sale.

The car presents today as it did in 1987 with its original black paint, original black interior and powerful, yet smooth original V-8 engine. The aftermarket wheels were replaced with a factory set wrapped by new old stock, 1988 date-coded Pirelli P4 tires to give it the proper look that it had when it rolled off the assembly line. With just some 71,800 miles from new, there will be plenty of enjoyment to be had by its next owner. It even has the seldom seen factory first aid kit stowed behind the seat. This example is highly enjoyable on sunny days with the top down/off and is cozy and warm with the top on when the weather cools off. Either way, you'll look and feel great in this attractive and sporting 560SL roadster manufactured by one of the most respected car builders in history - Mercedes-Benz.
