In 1955, Chevrolet underwent a significant transformation. The highlight of the year was the introduction of the groundbreaking 265-cubic-inch V-8 engine, powering newly designed and aesthetically pleasing cars and trucks. The iconic Cameo pickup, often considered Chevy's style leader for 1955, played a pivotal role by introducing the innovative "fleetside" bed, featuring fenders seamlessly integrated with the sides of the cab. The Cameo would be discontinued in 1959, until it was revived in 1988, carrying the same stylish and sporty look as it did in the '50s. The new S10 Cameo Pickup was available in three different colors, Apple Red, Frost White, and Midnight Black, and all the models were built with a specific front fascia, wheel-well flares, a flushed-mounted rolled rear valance in place of the bumper and Cameo I.D. badges in the doors and tailgate. Sales started in October 1988, but only in California, Florida, and Texas, making the '88 models the hardest to come across.

With just two owners from new, and with an interesting story that is attached to one of the most iconic bands in history, this 1988 Chevrolet S10 Cameo is a special little truck. First attracting world-renowned recognition in January 1963 when their song "Surfin' U.S.A" would break the top ten singles, the Beach Boys would go on to be one of the most critically acclaimed bands in history and would go on multiple tours around the United States. For 1988, the Beach Boys and Chevrolet would team up and create "Chevy's Heartbeat of America 1988 The Beach Boys Tour" and perform at 41 different venues. On August 26th, 1988, they would perform in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. To promote the event, Chevrolet created a sweepstakes that anyone could enter to win, and whoever's name was drawn at the concert would get their choice between a Cavalier RS Coupe or an S10 Cameo Pickup. That lucky concert attendee would be Mr. Bloom of Fremont, Indiana, who chose this 1988 Chevrolet S10 Cameo. The S10 Cameo would be delivered to Mr. Bloom by Bud Wolf Chevrolet of Indianapolis, Indiana, which is documented by copies of the original window stickers, copies of the dealer documents, and copies of the Entertainment Marketing Corporation sweepstakes contracts.

Today, this S10 Cameo has been tastefully upgraded with a fresh red paint job, a red Rhino-lined bed, new black and red accented bucket seats, a modern Pioneer stereo system, a hidden Sundown Audio amp and Pioneer speakers, and a GT Grant steering wheel. The 2.8-liter fuel-injected V-6 engine starts right up, and the five-speed manual transmission shifts with ease.

Accompanying the sale of this pickup are a clean CARFAX® report, an original '88 sweepstakes entry ticket, and the aforementioned copies of the original window sticker, dealer documents, and copies of the Entertainment Marketing Corporation of American contracts stating who won the concert sweepstakes. Ideal as a fun and sporty truck for everyday use, this S10 "Beach Boys Sweepstakes" Cameo with few owners will certainly fit well for any occasion.
