An icon of the 1980s, the Ferrari Testarossa is as quintessential as the MTV logo. Hands-down, the most alluring example of wedge design in automobile history, the Testarossa's striking side strakes, spanning over half the glorious, angular body, pull at heartstrings as it draws the eye. Painfully few automobiles capture the energetic verve and stylistic swagger of the '80s in such a visceral way. Add to that, this evocative look has evolved into a timeless classic that's just as fresh as the day it rolled off the Maranello floor. But it wasn't simply aesthetics that earned Testarossa the reigning title as Ferrari's best-selling 12-cylinder of all time.

When it was unveiled on the eve of the 1984 Paris Motor Show at the Lido Nightclub, no one had eyes for anyone else. Soon, every teenage boy had the Testarossa plastered on his wall and every aspiring celebrity or mogul strived to be seen in one. The Testarossa encapsulates the decade at the apex of its style, but the Pininfarina design team never exchanged style for substance. The iconic egg-slicer strakes were actually a solution to an American law that forbid open side intakes where the twin, side radiators were mounted; in the end, function became an aesthetic masterpiece. The side strakes also made for a cooler cabin as well as a wider rear end, which increased handling and stability along with the mid-engine placement.

Built until 1992, the original Testarossa was succeeded by a more updated version known as the 512TR. This would only last until 1994, when Ferrari decided to send the Testarossa platform out with a huge, and memorable bang. Building upon the widely successful Testarossa and furthering its legendary legacy, the F512 M was born. M for modificata or "modified," the 512 M indicated the end the Testarossa lineage, incorporating lovely aesthetic changes and mechanical updates. The most notable changes were the original pop-up headlights being replaced by fixed lamps beneath clear covers, the grille size reduced, round tail lamps adopted, and three-piece wheels were fitted. With a few engine modifications, the F512 M became the most powerful version of them all. In total 7,177 original Testarossas were built, 2,261 512TRs, but only a mere 501 F512 Ms were built worldwide.

The rarest variant, and sitting atop of the Testarossa platform, this 1995 Ferrari F512 M was delivered new on April 19th, 1995, to its first owner in Italy through Forza S.P.A. Finished in a classic Ferrari color scheme of Rosso Corsa over a Nero leather interior, it is a striking '90s supercar in the truest sense. Equally as impressive as its exterior and interior aesthetics is the engine bay, which features the sporting and ferocious 440-horsepower 12-cylinder engine. Appropriately paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, one can find much joy and fulfillment shifting through the gears and listening to the joyous screams of the 12-cylinder engine. Today, this rare example has just 39,043 kilometres, or less than 24,260 miles, on the odometer which certainly coincides with the overall well-kept condition of the car.

Having resided in the Passport Collection for a number of years now, it has been well-maintained, periodically exercised, always stored in a climate-controlled setting, and garners a great deal of attention when in the public eye. The most desirable variant and representing the lowest number produced of all the Testarossa models, this legendary 12-cylinder Rosso Corsa Pininfarina-designed Ferrari offers everything one could want in a true, highly coveted, and rapidly rising collector car.
