The 1999 Vector M12 is one of the most radical and pulsating supercars of the 1990s, born from the ambitions of an American company that dared to challenge Ferrari and Lamborghini. Developed by Vector Aeromotive under the control of Megatech, an Indonesian company that also owned Lamborghini at the time, the M12 represented a bold, if unconventional, continuation of Gerald Wiegert's dream to build an American supercar capable of competing with the European elite.

Introduced in 1995 and built through 1999, the M12 was based on the Lamborghini Diablo, sharing its 5.7-litre V-12 engine, gated six-speed manual transmission, and much of its underpinnings. However, it was wrapped in a wildly angular carbon-Kevlar composite body that looked more like a fighter jet than a car, in line with Vector's tradition of extreme aerospace-inspired styling. The cabin was equally outrageous, with bespoke aircraft switchgear, an aggressive dash layout, and wide seating for two. The performance was just as impressive as its unmistakable silhouette, producing 492 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time under 5 seconds. Paired with its limited production of just 14 examples ever built and its Lamborghini DNA, the M12 was one of the rarest exotics of its era.

Pinned with an outrageous presence and alluring aura, this 1999 Vector M12 is number 12 of just 14 production examples built and said to be originally designed and built new for the Prince of Bruni. Showing a mere 2,172 miles on the odometer, it was a former resident of the Larry Winkler Collection, before the current noted supercar collector would take ownership of this rare example nearly five years ago. The recipient of a major full engine-out service in November of 2019 by Scuderia Automotive Service, this Vector is ready to be enjoyed. During this service, the clutch was rebuilt and upgraded with a ceramic flywheel. Most recently in 2024, this Vector was fully serviced, and a new transmission cooler and hoses were installed.

Superbly maintained, the menacing black paint presents very well over the lipstick red interior. The cabin has been redesigned to accommodate taller occupants, allowing for a wide range of people to enjoy this Vector. Displayed at numerous museums, it was most notably admired in the Petersen Automotive Museum's 'Supercars of the World' exhibit.

Today, the Vector M12 continues to gain traction as a cult collectable; it is a true emblem of 1990s excess at a time when wild and radical ideas could still make it to production. Its rarity, unmistakable design, and fusion of Italian power with American ambition make it a standout in any collection. For collectors seeking something rare, radical, and dripping with period flair, the Vector M12 is a striking and unforgettable addition.
