2003 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible
The C5 Corvette, which was introduced in 1997, was designed and led by Dave Hill and John Cafaro. The duo wanted to ensure this was one of the best, if not the best performing Corvette to date, so they made sure to address every perceived shortcoming of the fourth gen Vette. They not only improved these but practically eliminated all of them in the C5.
In 2003, the Corvette celebrated its golden anniversary with a special edition coupe and convertible. These limited-edition cars were finished in Anniversary Red, rode on five spoke champagne alloy wheels and wore special 50th Anniversary badging on the seats, floor mats, armrests, and front fenders. The convertible also features a Shale colored soft top. Topping off the golden anniversary examples was magnetic ride control, a system that changes the viscosity of the fluid in the dampers by introducing a current. This provides a more precise and responsive handling, as well as a greater sense of driver security and a flatter, smoother ride.
This 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible on offer carries all those brilliant features and presents in like-new condition having traveled less than 5,000 miles since new. Documented by a clean CARFAX®, it shows just three private owners. A limited run of just 7,547 of these examples were produced, many of which were immediately enjoyed and routinely driven, as their powerful engines were too much to resist and not accumulate miles.
At the heart of this American sports car is a thrilling LS1 5.7-liter V-8 engine that is backed by a six-speed manual transmission. This combo earned a factory rating of 350 horsepower and an impressive 360 lbs-ft of tire melting torque, allowing for the driver to punch it and reach a 0 to 60 time in the mid four seconds, which is quite impressive even by today's standards.
Stored in the Passport Collection's climate-controlled facility for the last 15 years and driven less than 225 miles on average a year, this collector grade example celebrates the golden anniversary of one of America's all-time favorite sports cars.
