The 2007 Corvette Pace Car was created to commemorate Chevrolet's ongoing partnership with the Indy 500. Corvette first took on pace car duties in 1978, and since then, has been a staple of the race, showcasing its performance capabilities to the world. Marking the ninth time a Corvette led the field at the legendary race, the 2007 special-edition model was designed to capture both the exhilarating performance and the heritage of America's most revered sports car.

In total 500 of these examples were built. The first 57 that rolled off the assembly line were shipped straight to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, arriving on March 15th to be used as track and festival committee vehicles. The first 57 examples all had the six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission and were unique in that they arrived at the Speedway with a "CHEVROLET" windshield header and lights placed behind the headrest. The remaining 443 examples were not completed and offered to the public until after the race in June.

This Corvette is one of the first pace cars built in '07 and was reportedly used by the festival committee and is said to have paced laps during the historic Indianapolis 500 race. Carrying all the early pace car features, it is finished in the eye-catching color of Atomic Orange Metallic with the signature Indy 500 graphics. To ensure it was seen on the track, strobe lights are discreetly placed behind the headrests.

It is only fitting that performance was equally as impressive as the appearance, so Chevrolet stuck a thrilling 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 engine that pushed an impressive 400 horsepower and 400 lbs-ft of torque. To back that, and send the power to the rear wheels, this example retains the optional six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission. Performance numbers are just as impressive, as this pace car can through down a 0 to 60 time in just 4.2 seconds.

Today, this example retains just 5,814 miles from new, a clean CARFAX®, window sticker, an extra set of keys, and its original owner's manuals. It has since been maintained by the Passport Collection since being retired from track duties at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Blending head-turning design, track-inspired engineering, and an exclusive production run, the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car remains one of the most desirable special edition Corvettes to hit the road.
